Frequently Asked Questions

How Do Lessons Work? + -

We provide 2 efoils for all lessons and begin with a comprehensive dry land safety briefing and basic technique training. Once students have completed the dry land portion, our experienced instructors will accompany each rider individually in the water, with the student on one board and the instructor on another. We have radio communication for real-time guidance on basic riding and bailing techniques.

Venue where do lessons take place? + -

Our mobile operation allows us to conduct lessons from any private beach, dock, or boat in and around Portland. Even if you don't have accommodations on the water, we can organize an ideal public location to meet up for the lesson.

What should we bring? + -

Just bring your swimwear, towel, and ID.  All students will be required to sign a waiver.  We'll provide the efoils for an unforgettable experience on the water. Every lesson with eFoil Northwest includes top-quality equipment such as helmets, life jackets, and wetsuits.

What is the age criteria? + -

Will I be able to learn to ride an eFoil on my first lesson? + -

Most people should be able to achieve success on their very first lesson and should be able to ride "on foil" for at least a short amount of time. If you have a strong athletic background and good balance, you can expect to experience some long flights during your first lesson.

Cancellation and rescheduling policy? + -

If you need to cancel your lesson, you can get a full refund by cancelling over 48 hours in advance of your lesson start-time. Cancel by 7am on the same day of the lesson for a half refund. However, there are no refunds for cancellations on the same day made after 7am.

Rescheduling your lesson is also possible. You can reschedule over 48 hours in advance of your lesson start-time with no penalty. Reschedule by 7am on the same day of the lesson for a 50% cost-of-lesson penalty. Unfortunately, no rescheduling is allowed after 7am on the day of the lesson.

Please note that a full refund does not include the processing fee Square charges us. We recommend booking without pre-paying for your lesson to avoid this processing fee.
